A little over a year ago, we collectively drooled over sweater #2, a classic by Pringle of Scotland:

...and here we have the original. Now Lion Brand has offered us a sop-rag knockoff with which to stylishly wipe our chins. Cue (or queue, Ravelers) the Cable Luxe Tunic [non-ravelers click here]:

Like others, I am ready to admit that Lion Brand is slowly getting itself together.
UPDATE: WOW, I am SOOO behind the curve on this one! Olgajazzy compiled this army of knockoffs last month, and check out Miss Twiss' asymmetrical cardigan version complete with pattern!
And also getting itself together - the lower body of the TYC is complete:

I'm actually drooling over sweater #4 in the first picture. I'm trucking through the garter rib on my TYC. Yours is looking great!
Posted by: Lisa at October 8, 2007 10:49 PMRebecca 34 has a turtleneck version of that sweater that I like even better than the lion brand. You can only see a little a little bit of it on the preview at their website, but www.olgajazzy.com posted a picture of it a little while back. Actually, you've reminded me that I have been meaning to buy that myself...
Posted by: kelly at October 9, 2007 8:36 AMI would never have believed that Lion Brand was responsible for that sweater. It's so nice!
Posted by: Marlena at October 9, 2007 8:55 AMI have just posted about the Pringle knockoffs (13 of them and counting! Lion Brand, Rebecca, Phildar, Bouton d'Or and so on) on my blog. It's in French but you can follow the links and check the pictures if you're interested.

Posted by: Urraca at October 9, 2007 9:38 AMi was actually very surprised at lion brand's offerings in their last catalog. even the vanna's choice yarn isn't so bad. would make a nice yarn for afghans.
Posted by: gleek at October 9, 2007 9:42 AMI know.... dont tell me about drool. I love this sweater. Still waiting on the ravelry invite though.
Posted by: knit, crochet, stitch, stick at October 9, 2007 12:39 PMKnock offs of the Pringle sweater are every where (including Old Navy and Gap)!!!
This Pringle sweater inspired me to pick up needles again and venture into knitting sweaters instead of just scarves. LOVE cables!
Will have to try the Lion Brand pattern ko but in Wool Ease? Dunno...
Thank you for your blog!
Posted by: gigi at October 9, 2007 2:25 PMThe tyc is looking great. Man that's a whole lot of stockingknit! :P Love the color though! It will be so worth it.
Posted by: preita at October 9, 2007 3:17 PMI wonder if a few young, hip designers are catching on to the fact that Lion Brand pays a good amount of money for patterns these days...
Posted by: elizabeth at October 9, 2007 6:26 PMI'm drooling all kinds of all over the place! I'm in love...must add to queue...
Posted by: Carrie at October 9, 2007 6:40 PMYes, I'd been following Miss Twiss' progress... And now I'm dying to knit my own version! Are you going to make one too?
Posted by: Veronique at October 10, 2007 12:24 PMI was also surprised and impressed by the last Lion Brand catalog I got, despite all the Vanna. The styling was light years better than what I've seen in other knitting catalogs. (yeah Knit Picks, I'm lookign at YOU. How do you manage to make everything look so dumpy?)
It's a beautiful sweater, but I fear it would make me look like a circus tent.
Posted by: Katy at October 10, 2007 2:14 PMHello Girls across the ocean; check this one http://www.phildar.fr/catalogues/catalogue-interactif.aspx?type_entree=4&id_catalogue=2104810000000000&code_site=FR&code_cible=F on the left!

Posted by: Ceciloo at October 11, 2007 1:37 PMSorry for the wrong link! I just wanted to show you a sweater in the last winter magazine that look very similar to the Lion brand one!
You can check on the phildar site!

Thanks for that! I went and immediately added the Lion Brand one to my (already excessively long) Ravelry queue!
