Summer weekend dinner, inspired by Mark Bittman's "Summer Express: 101 Simple Meals Ready in 10 Minutes or Less"

Pimm's Cups: 1 part Pimm's + 2 parts sparkling lemonade + cucumber spear or lemon slice = Garden Party!
These were enjoyed first at the Spider's BBQ / Gala / Tiarafest (graciously hosted by the talented Virginia), then with said Nicoise Salad!
And for Catty and Moses... a new felty/catnippy toy!

Thanks, Auntie Craptina!
What, no tomatoes in the salade nicoise? I can't wait til they hit my farmer's market :)
You looked mah-velous with a tiara Darling!
I misplaced your site for awhile and when I finally find myself back, here are three of my favorite things: Pimms, salad nicoise and Mark Bitman. All three made visits to my house this week...well, to clarify, a pimms and ginger, and How to Cook Everything's coconut chicken. Mark didn't actually drop by. Wouldn't that be nice!
Posted by: Lauren at July 27, 2007 11:41 AMYES to Pimms in the summer with friends!! And I have gotten a ton of mileage out of the Bitman article, have you seen that it's been consistently #1 on the Times website?
Posted by: Heather at July 27, 2007 1:58 PMMmm. I don't think a nicoise salad has ever looked so yummy!
Posted by: Nonnahs at July 27, 2007 2:10 PMMmmm, I love Pimm's! At Wimbledon we had it with slices of orange, lemon, cucumber and strawberry on a toothpick. I also love that you can get Pimm's and lemonade in a can here, I buy it all the time now that I'm sucked into the English way of needing a drink after work every day!
Posted by: Sarah at July 27, 2007 4:22 PMMust try this!
Lemonade with ANYTHING in it is fun.
The salad and the beverage look great but I LOVE seeing Catty :)
Posted by: Debi at July 27, 2007 10:58 PMI was so confused- my initial thought was "why is there a pickle in that drink?"
Everything looks yummy!
Posted by: Christy at July 29, 2007 10:30 AMHmm, the Pimm's Cups in mmy house would definitely be lemon slices. The idea of cucumber...yuck. But that's just me, I fully understand that some people like them. Just not me....
Posted by: carol at July 29, 2007 11:40 AMYour food photos, as always, are so stunning, they almost make me wish I cooked. Or even had the motivation to prepare a salad for myself. Maybe someday, when I'm a grown-up....
Posted by: Jess at July 29, 2007 1:25 PMOkay, you just made me hungry :) And a little thirsty ;)
Posted by: Schrodinger at July 29, 2007 10:28 PMthanks for the shout out...... I never did get to try one of you PIMS cups :( Is your cat nip toy in shreds? My are too gross to photo. The cats have killed them.
Posted by: craptina at July 31, 2007 1:44 PMOK, but did it really take you 10 minutes? Love that list, but even with the water-boiling caveat, I am skeptical!
Or I'm really freaking slow. Maybe.
Posted by: Katy at July 31, 2007 5:55 PMHi Catty! Glad to see you looking so happy and well :)
Posted by: Roz at August 1, 2007 10:23 AMBeautiful cat - tricolor:))
