Just a quick note to those who have been sending us well-wishes regarding our never-ending apartment search... it continues :-\ We did apply for one place that was lovely in lots of ways but that we just had a bad / strange feeling about. Also the landlord lived in the building, and frankly even on first meeting he seemed like a little bit of a freak. So we withdrew our app. Then we saw a beautiful wonderful place in our neighborhood, but apparently fifty (50!) people had expressed interest in it and I just found out it was rented. Then we saw a place on the NY Times listings we were scheduled to view, but it was rented the day the ad went up. Sigh.

At least I have my health and my knitting.

I feel your pain. I tried to upgrade in San Francisco in the middle of the tech boom. Everything that looked good and was in our reach, seemed to have an "issue" like teh smarmy freaky landlord. Everything in our reach was (after the 50 people went through) being paid for in cash with $10,000 and $20,000 bonuses by those annoying filthy rich dot commers. But stay with it, you'll find one. I didn't have the knit blog network then... (We moved to Boston, not so encouraging - am guessing Jersey isn't your bag.)

When you find the right place you will be glad you didn't take the apartment with the creepy landlord! Continuing to send good Brooklyn apartment search vibes your direction...

What a bummer! I second the thought - thank goodness for good health and knitting! Hope your search will end soon, with a lovely place to call home.

God what a bummer! I'm sending you good apartment vibes. I just had to relocate from OH to CA & have to sell my house in OH and find one in CA so I'm feeling ya!

Sucky. I can definitely commiserate, hang in there. BTW is that your current apartment I saw in the Domino Design contest slide show? The lack of foil threw me for a second, but I'd be willing to bet cashmere that's your Petrie and your portraits right there in slide #7.

Sorry to hear you are struggling. I know what thats like. When I first looked for this place I had to hunt for ages and phone countless places. My little bro just moved to the city and it was the same for him. He finally found a place and he has lived there 2 weeks and already the landlord put it on the market to sell. so the hunt begins again.

Keep your chin up though. You'll get something in the end.

:)

It's torture, isn't it? My last three buildings were owner-occupied, and so I think your leeriness is well-placed.

My current landlord lives down the street, which is PERFECTION. Or maybe it's just that he's perfection. Dunno. Sending some mojo your way--

Sorry about the heartache of apartment searching - I feel your pain. But have a great day at the park today, the weather is PERFECT. I'm sad I won't be there to celebrate (and enjoy that cider - yum)

Oh my goodness - I am glad you went with your instinct on that one. It was only bound to get worse -- if someone is freaky when you meet them for the first time...? Where else can it go?

Sorry to hear you are still looking - but your attitude is excellent. :-D
