If you've been confused, disappointed, or irritated by the last few Rowan magazines, the new Rowan 42 may go some ways toward healing old wounds:
Update: So some of you think I'm nuts, I know. It's okay, I can take it. But for specifics, I like: Afric Cape, Alpine Shrug, Fleet (would shorten), Long Fyne Slipover, Highland Stockings (though they'd make my legs look godawful), Maree (would make without sleeves or collar - love the colorwork pattern), Neaty, and Oslo.
I am also fond of the cover sweater on the new Rowan book Newshapes
Posted by jess at August 8, 2007 12:49 PM | TrackBackoooooh I liked that cover too, and knitting with chunky wools means that I usually do finish the sweater :)
Posted by: stinkerbell at August 8, 2007 1:52 PMYeah I agree! I like the Rannoch Dress a lot. I just might have to get this issue...
Posted by: Sarah at August 8, 2007 2:07 PMI bought Rowan 42 because there are about 5 sweaters that I love. I fear this will end up being an expensive purchase.
Posted by: Megan at August 8, 2007 2:14 PMI really like Neaty & Malt. But then again, the pictures themselves are just beautiful!
Posted by: Preita at August 8, 2007 4:10 PMI may have to get this one. I like quite a few of the sweaters and coats.
Posted by: Dorothy at August 8, 2007 10:48 PMI agree, it's really good this time. It's going to take me years to knit all the sweaters I bookmarked only the first time I leafed through it.
Posted by: Marie at August 9, 2007 10:55 AMInteresting--I didn't see anything for me in this one. Which ones do you like??
Posted by: Katy at August 9, 2007 11:32 AMI'm thinking that my tastes are very, um... specific, or something, nothing takes my fancy here.
Posted by: schrodinger at August 9, 2007 1:08 PMI'll chime in here to agree with you. Lots of beautiful stuff here, and they seem to be leaning away from that weird gypsy-cum-street kid look they were trying out for a while. Though I do find it so funny that they keep insisting on including sweater patterns made entirely of kidsilk haze and reaching to one's knees. That's, like, three months' grocery budget.
Posted by: JulieFrick at August 9, 2007 7:54 PMi kinda like the hat, i guess. but i'm on the "you are batty" boat myself. sorry. ;)
Posted by: Sandra at August 10, 2007 11:35 AMI agree with you all the way about Rowan. I'm also partial to Caraway in the Newshapes.
Posted by: Jeanine at August 10, 2007 7:22 PMAgreed, so much more in this new Rowan I'd be interested in working on! Hurrah!
