2007th Verse, Same as the First

Happy New Year! After five years in New York, we've learned that on New Year's Eve, you either head straight for your corner bar or, if you can, flee! We rang in 2007 with a jaunt up to a delightful inn on the Hudson River, nearish to New Paltz. We highly recommend the place, Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa. It was a splurge, but it's what we did instead of flying somewhere, which would have been far pricier. And it was totally worth it. Here are a few photos:

My creation
1. Chris' New Best Friend, 2. Bridge of Fun, 3. Frozen Leaves,
4. Chris, Bridge, Waterfall., 5. Stop Looking At Me, Swan(s)!, 6. B(ird)-Line

One reason I haven't posted for a while is that I don't have much on which to update you! That's what happens when you take on a sweater for a 6' tall man with an unnaturally long back. Nonetheless, progress has been made, and progress you shall see:

Urban Aran Progress

So far, so good. The pattern is straightforward but just interesting enough. So far highly recommended.

Other exciting news? Lemme see. (Again, this is why I haven't posted...) We got a new sofa! While there are surely more momentous events unfolding on the world stage, the sofa has been a pretty big deal around here. More on that tomorrow or Thursday- on the sofa and its benefits, on how the sofa was extracted from quite a pickle, and on trying desperately to neutralize La Destructora with airborne aphrodisiacs and Lee Press-On Nails! Until then...

I totally need a "Bridge Of Fun" in my backyard, don't you??

And I feel your pain about the sweater. My husband is 6'2" with a long torso/arms and I wish I picked a more interesting pattern. Boring doesn't even begin to describe it. I can't even take photos of it because it just looks like a gray blog o' ribbing.

Good for you for getting out of NYC for New Year's Eve. I just go to bed. I'm curious to check out the inn you mentioned. The sweater is awesome.

That looks awesome! Bet you can't wait until you are done though.

Happy New Sofa to you!! You've made excellent progress on the sweater - I'm impressed.

Congratulations on the new sofa. That IS a big deal.

The extra-long sweater is a drag, but if your next sweater is for a child or a petite woman, you'll feel like you're flying through it! It looks good.

That cardi is coming out just gorgeous! I'm going to show it to my husband and see if he wants one too. I adore cables.

Mmmmmm, New Year's in New York. Our holiday was lovely here in Germany, but I was still missing home. Have you ever been to First Night? They have one in Binghamton (which we always go to), and in a bunch of other cities also. You can check it out here: http://www.firstnight.com/cities.php It's a little over $5 for an entire night of entertainment all around the city.

Welcome back! I'm amazed at the frozen leaves... I live upstate and New Year's here was warm and sunny -- no ice in sight!

You surely can't be old enough to use that song in your blog title!! Only us knitters older than dirt know all the lyrics.

And thanks, I will now be singing the H.the 8th song all day cause once stuck in my head I can't get it out.

wow, the sweater looks huge when it's all laid out like that! those must have been some pretty long rows.

looks like you had a great time for NYE. you can't beat a little getaway from the city!

Your sweater is looking quite lovely and sure is growing.

I agree, we all need a "Bridge of Fun." Can I get one for my office?

Posted by: Katie at January 10, 2007 10:10 AM

yes! we want to hear all about how you de-virginize your couch....hehehe

Posted by: craptina at January 10, 2007 1:11 PM

The Inn/Spa looks lovely - I definitely need a vacation like that very soon.

Wow, new sofa? Congrats! That's like a new member of the family! I hope you escaped any Friends-style "PIVOT!!" moments when moving her in. I once had to say goodbye to a purple couch that couldn't make the turn. :(

The sweater is looking really good and I really love the Frozen Leaves picture.

Oh, I've been having little daydreams about your #10 needles. It looks so good I may have to shamelessly copy you...well, shamelessly and selfishly, because I'd be making it for ME. And Alex is only a solid size L, so I have no excuse.

Getting outta Dodge=brilliance.

Are you having luck with the softclaws? We have been using them since we moved to NJ & got grown-up furniture this summer...mostly a good experience, but one of the cats sheds hers like a mofo.

Lee Press-on Nails have a myriad of uses, glad you found another one....glad you had a relaxing New Year's jaunt!

that sounds like such a lovely weekend away. buttermilk falls -- it's like a place that strawberry shortcake might have visited.

it was good to see you sunday!

That sweater looks delicious, congrats on the new couch, and that cat's face made all my teeth fall out.

Happy New Year!

Hey, you weren't too far from my neck of the woods. Did you get the chance to check out Year of the Goat (yarn shop) in New Paltz? The sweater is gorgeous!

I had got a desire to start my firm, however I didn't have got enough of cash to do this. Thank goodness my friend proposed to utilize the personal loans. Thus I used the bank loan and realized my desire.
