Dangers of Doing Nothing

Ah vacation. Another day of sitting around, doing whateves. I'm more than halfway through The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. The Razor Cami is finished and blocking - in this moist weather, blocking will conclude in about three weeks. There are lots of other knitting projects I could work on: Forecast (let's face it, probably not), the other panel of my Counterpane Carpet Bag (maybe), my Koigu socks (reserved for the train). I should knit the last strip of Emily's baby blanket, since she's due any day. I could even finally finish weaving the ends in on Colchique and have the biggest, comfiest cashmere sweater you ever did see, ready for cooler weather. But let's face facts: I'll probably start something new.

Contenders: a baby top something like Sarah's Miss May for my sister's baby (due in October, like all fine citizens); a cardigan for Chris (after 8 years I've never made him a sweater... am I afraid of the curse?); some complex sweater for myself that, if begun now, might be completed before winter is through. I'd like another go at a cabled sweater after the Colchique debacle, maybe a cardigan. I could use the Suss Alpaca I got in July.

Or I could visit School Products today. And buy more cashmere. Do I have something better to do?

To be continued...

ps - So if you haven't seen Little Miss Sunshine, do. We saw it last night at BAM - it was sweet and truly the funniest movie I've seen all year... very well done.

I'm trying to figure out what to work on next too. I'm hoping to see Little Miss Sunshine this weekend...I'm really looking forward to it.

I LOVED Little Miss Sunshine. We went last week on girl's night (+1 boy) and I was a little worried because we all had high expectations and you know how that can turn out. No one was disappointed, even my friend's film nerd/maker boyfriend.

ha, did i convince you to read wind-up bird? :) my fave book of all time!

i know what you mean about blocking in this weather. i purposely ran the A/C at home yesterday so that it would be dry enough to block the collar to kyoto!

why not go to school products? it's always nice to hang out there on dreary days.

I usually point a fan at wet handknits, and it seems to help. Isn't bamboo supposed to dry fast?
I can't believe you're out of love with your Counterpane bag :( You had picked such a lovely shade of gray.

Sounds like you are in the end of summer ADD's too.

Love your "milk" needles in your previous post.

I loved Little Miss Sunshine. Have you see Half Nelson? I saw that at BAM this past weekend. Much darker, but definitely also really good. Oh, go on, buy some cashmere. You know you want to!

I found a great way to get over the curse. I accidentally made a sweater for Chris--it was supposed to be for me, but it was far too big. (It was my first sweater.)

Love Wind Up Bird Chronicles and have wanted to read more of his stuff. I have really enjoyed post-bar reading.

Oh, go to School Products and buy cashmere, of course!!!!

My vote is the knit for the October baby, we're worth it = ). Although shopping for cashmere doesn't exclude knitting.

that's right. fine citizens are definately born in October! ;)

Go the Forecast! Honestly, it knits up so fast and people go crazy for it, you'll love the compliments.

Little Miss Sunshine: Funniest movie I've seen since Rushmore. For those who don't know me but through Jessica (which is pretty much everyone on this blog, I think), that's high praise. ;)

I loved the movie too. And I saw it yesterday too! Enjoy your time off.

I've heard good things about Little Miss Sunshine - it's not too sad?
Buy more cashmere sounds good to me.
Miss May is gorgeous - do you know your sister is having a girl?

Since I am ever the yarn enabler - I say Cashmere!

ah, wind-up bird chronicle is one of my favorites!
i think you should start something new. in a few more months, you may get snowed in, then you can attend to the ufos. at least that's my excuse for starting something new.

I'm also in the middle of The Wind Up Bird Chronicle. It's a good one. It has me on the edge as I near the end.

I ALWAYS want to start something new right when I'm at the finish line of my other projects! It makes no sense. On that note, go buy yarn!!

I loved Little Miss Sunshine. I can't wait to see it again. And October is indeed a fine month for a birthday!

Loved Wind-Up Bird Chronicles...

You only have to travel all the way to Indiana to find this fireplace cafe...just a little bit far from NYC to make an afternoon of it, but I'm here if you want to! That's one nice thing about being out of the city, extra space. But I still love NYC, and I'm glad this absence is only temporary!

Wow, the red bamboo is an amazing color! I can't wait to see a picture of it completed. I see you like working with the bamboo, but is it heavy?

Look forward to seeing what you move on to next!

It will be release this wednesday in France, I was planning to see it. I'm a big fan of Toni Collette and I like those kind of story.
And by the way, the jaquet (beige and violet one) in the Phildar magazine, is one of my favorite too, even I know I will never be patient enough to knit it
