Just a photographic check in, since for whatever reason it was slightly easier to photograph in the apartment today despite the dark and drear weather. It's jumping the gun a bit to post progress shots now since the cami will likely be finished by the end of the day, but I wanted to pause for a quick moment to appreciate two things.

First, the SWTC Bamboo yarn you see here. While this isn't the color I would have chosen for the RC were I buying the yarn specifically for this project, it is not possible to praise the yarn itself enough. SWTC's new formulation is soft as puppies, drapey, and not splitty in the least. Not all colors have been switched to the new version, I believe, but if you're buying in person you'll figure out which is which right away.

Second, my Swallow Casein needles. It's rare I get the opportunity to use them, since I almost always knit on circulars and generally prefer wood when straight needles are called for. But aesthetically, I adore these... the translucent, faux-tortiseshell-ness of them. Functionally, although the points are very dull they are comfortable to use - warm and nicely flexible. And yo, they're made out of milk. Don't ever say I don't love my dairy.

Look for a FO in a day or two... then it's on to (gasp!) a cool-weather project!
Posted by jess at August 27, 2006 11:04 AM | TrackBackThat red is stunning! I love it! It's the perfect red not too brassy or dull. Nice choice. I found knitting with clovers or plastic needles to be easier with slippery yarns. My tension is better. Looking forward to seeing the cami, let's hope this is it! :)
Posted by: Aimee at August 27, 2006 11:19 AMThat red is amazing, and I so love the needles!
Posted by: Charity at August 27, 2006 11:38 AMI agree - the yarn and needles are so yummy. It makes knitting all that much more fun to have great tools!
Posted by: Jamie at August 27, 2006 11:44 AMwhat pattern are you knitting?
Posted by: pixie at August 27, 2006 11:58 AMIt looks great. I am looking forward to see the finished piece. Hmm, it is tempting to try the RC pattern. :)
Posted by: Emma at August 27, 2006 12:08 PMThe cami and the needles look beautiful!
Posted by: Vickey at August 27, 2006 12:23 PMi just love that bamboo yarn. it's so nice! i never would have given it a second thought if you hadn't let us all give the RC a good fondling on friday. now i keep thinking about what would be the perfect project for it!
those needles are beautiful! and made of milk? how cool.
Posted by: gleek at August 27, 2006 12:48 PMYay! Nice to have you back - can't wait to see more pics of your trip.
That red is stunning - as is your stichwork. Very lovely.
Seriously? Made out of milk? That is wild.
Posted by: Miss Scarlett at August 27, 2006 12:55 PMI've got a pair of those needles myself. I love them. Like you I knit almost exclusively on circs, but have recently pulled those tortise shell lovelies out. I'm doing a log cabin on them.
oh my, those needles are loverly.
Posted by: Sandra at August 27, 2006 1:45 PMThat is gorgeous. I think I'll be copying you in the near future. xoxo.
Posted by: ellie at August 27, 2006 4:05 PMThe Razor Cami is coming along beautifully. And the needles really are gorgeous. I have a one pair of pretty needles and I feel like I never get to knit on them (don't use 10.5's much). Lucky you! It feels like it makes the whole project more... indulgent?
Posted by: jenna at August 27, 2006 4:05 PMWow, I can't believe how far along you are in the Razor Cami since I saw you on Friday! You are trucking along. And who can blame you when you've hit the trifecta: soft yarn, beautiful needles, and an easy-to-memorize pattern. Seeing and feeling that new SWTC Bamboo has induced me to lift my embargo on the stuff...
Posted by: Lisa at August 27, 2006 5:26 PMWow! This is so great, J! I love the texture of that yarn with this pattern. Gorgeous work - can't wait to see the finished knit ;)
Posted by: Lolly at August 27, 2006 9:45 PMnice photos. i bet you could make red heart look great!
Posted by: bekka at August 27, 2006 10:30 PMRC is looking lovely, I think that color is fabulous.
I've been intrigued by the casein for some time (I'm a big fan of Denises and imagine they are pretty similar), glad to hear you like them.
Posted by: Schrodinger at August 27, 2006 11:10 PMThanks for the tip I have wondered about this yarn. Great Red!
Posted by: gina l at August 28, 2006 1:32 AMThose are SUCH beautiful needles!
The knitting ain't bad either, of course. ;-) Nice stitch definition, and I love that intense, saturated red.
Posted by: Beth S. at August 28, 2006 10:57 AMwelcome back! Your razor cami is looking great!
Posted by: vanessa at August 28, 2006 11:16 AMGreat progres!
Posted by: Gina at August 28, 2006 3:35 PMthe cami looks great! um, are the needles really made with milk or are you kidding??
Posted by: kym at August 28, 2006 9:41 PMWow, you're really banging out that Cami - looks great! Gorgeous job. I love that shade of red.
I, too, am a fan of the Swallow casein needles, despite the kinda funny smell they have (eh, must be the milk). I love the way silky yarns cling lovingly to the needles. I admit, I have a small stash of them acquired mainly when a certain yarn shop was practically giving away.
Great close-up of your knitting on the casein needles - artfully done.
Hi. When we are unhurried and wise, we perceive that only great and worthy things have any permanent and absolute existence, that petty fears and petty pleasures are but the shadow of the reality.
I am from Marino and , too, and now am writing in English, please tell me right I wrote the following sentence: "The ire script is collapsed by the 21 face of sweden and is well dealt by officers, with high women for races."
Thanks :-D. Andras.
