File under "Amazing." I ordered three Phildar magazines from the Phildar website on SUNDAY. Phildar IN FRANCE. En France. On a Sunday. They were awaiting me at home today, as in Tuesday.

That's it, the Phildar people along with the French Service Postale are taking massive doses of uppers to ensure speedy deliveries. I am in la shock! If you need a Phildar fix, apparently ordering directly from them is the way to go (though it appears they have yet to set up offering their English-language mags there).
At some point soon I'll go through and show you the projects for which these were ordered. I've been hunting down good cardigan patterns, and there are a few in these. (btw, if you can recommend any great cardi patterns, send them my way! I'm looking for something heavily wearable, yet not too boring to knit)
ps - Calla is complete. I'm debating whether to block - I suppose I'll have to eventually. At first glance I hated it, but I think I was projecting my impatience with the process onto the finished object. My objective assessment is that the bottom is loose, due mostly to my loose initial gauge, and that I feel like the aran texture accentuates one's... curves, perhaps a bit too well. But all in all it's not bad; one just needs to pair it with the right outfit. It also does look v.v. nice under a blazer, for work. I'm wondering whether blocking will just stretch the bottom more, or whether it will put things in proportion. Once that gets settled, a photo shoot is forthcoming. Gosh, it's been a long time since you've actually seen a finished object 'round these parts!

Posted by: pixie at June 14, 2006 8:03 PM"la shock"... hahahaha, that one got me laughing :)
that's AMAZING service.
Posted by: gleek at June 14, 2006 8:15 PMOh please do tell us what you like out of the mags. I love the Phildar designs but je ne parle francais! (at least not all that well!)
Posted by: kellyt at June 14, 2006 8:31 PMTres magnifique! (sp?)
Posted by: colleen at June 14, 2006 9:04 PMI know! It always throws me off how quick Phildar stuff arrives. The Fiddlesticks pattern I ordered from Canada, on the other hand, took three weeks. Yes, weeks.
Posted by: valentina at June 14, 2006 9:11 PMi'm so jealous, cuz Phildar doesn't ship to Singapore!!! *calmes down*
Posted by: Lois at June 14, 2006 9:32 PMOh la la! Great service! I haven't checked out their site in awhile. It's so easy to naviagate and get a good look at the patterns now.
Posted by: Siri at June 14, 2006 10:17 PMooo la la, those look amazing! let me know how the translation goes. putyourflareon from flickr sent me a french pattern for an adorable kimono wrap sweater, but i've yet to translate it...even after eight years of french instruction, it's definitely NOT like riding a bike! can't wait to see what you're making...
Posted by: kate at June 14, 2006 11:36 PMWow! That's crazy service! I have to wait week for anything coming across the border from the U.S. must be all the power mad customs people. Guess U.S. overseas customs must like France.
I would love to see what you are planning!
Posted by: Dorothy B at June 14, 2006 11:40 PMThat's so excellent, I've been wanting to order off their site for a while but didn't want to have to wait weeks. Now that I know the speed with which these magazines fly, nothing is standing in my way. Nothing except a little french and figuring out the exchange rate. Bah.
Posted by: jen at June 14, 2006 11:45 PMI have the 2 mags on the left, and I agree that there are some good cardies in there. I even bought Phildar yarn for 3 of them when I was in France in April...
Let me know if you need help with translating!
Have you considered buying the knit design software available from Art Fibres in San Francisco? It's easy to use, writes a complete pattern with schematic, and you can get exactly what you want.
Posted by: Gale at June 15, 2006 8:24 AMWow is that quick shipping! I have the mag on the left and 25 Adult Mix that I ordered from http://www.knitntyme.com. Their shipping isn't that quick, but they do have the English language versions of the 2 I ordered.
I am in love with the button up jacket that is the last (or nearly last) pattern in the Tendances on the far left.
Posted by: Toby at June 15, 2006 9:37 AMJust goes to show how awesome Phildar really is. Why oh why don't they have more products over here!!
Posted by: Sarah at June 15, 2006 11:39 AMWow, vive la PTT! When they're not on strike, that is.
Posted by: Jezabel at June 15, 2006 12:15 PMPhildar patterns are generally so wonderful. I just wish I understood enough French to understand French knitting.
Posted by: Gina at June 15, 2006 12:36 PMI have those magazines too and I can't wait to see what you are going to knit from them! I actually got into Phildar through the Colchique button on your website! It's a very popular yarn store here in Belgium and yet I had never taken the time to check out their pattern books. And they are pretty cheap too, at least for me!
I can offer help for translations as well, if you need them!
Love!
Posted by: Emily at June 15, 2006 6:19 PMOoh, I can't wait to see Calla on. Give it a bit longer and you'll remember why you wanted to make it in the first place and love it again!
Posted by: Abi at June 16, 2006 6:19 AMI been looking for the phildar magazine as well, but i can't order from their site, can't understand french. I love the indigo jacket on the TenDances that you have..
Posted by: chooi wah at June 16, 2006 8:52 AMLOL - you wouldn't have received the patterns that fast if you'd ordered them from the states!
Posted by: Chris at June 16, 2006 7:56 PMI got mine to London in 2 days, so that's great going!
Posted by: Kirsty at June 17, 2006 4:16 AMThat is so quick! I just spent way too much time over at their site thinking about which books to buy... but I already have enough on my plate right now! :)
Looking forward to Calla!
Posted by: Lolly at June 17, 2006 8:31 AM*blinks* I can't believe you got it that fast! I live in the country and I can't get service like that face to face with someone.
Impressive, indeed!
Posted by: Aimee at June 22, 2006 6:31 PMputyourflareon from flickr sent me a french pattern for an adorable kimono wrap sweater, but i've yet to translate it...even after eight years of french instruction, it's definitely NOT like riding a bike!
Posted by: Tramadol at August 6, 2009 12:28 PMIf you are willing to buy real estate, you will have to get the credit loans. Moreover, my father all the time uses a college loan, which supposes to be really firm.
