Really and truly, I will be thrilled to finish this:

The back of Calla is complete, and it has required no small amount of frogging and improvisation. The strap looks inelegant cutting off the cable pattern like that. No matter how many times I read the strap decrease section of the pattern, it just would not turn out like the model, so I forged my own way to make it right-ish. And after all of that I tried it on and I'm not even sure it flatters me. Gah. Nope, won't be a mite sorry to wave bye-bye to Calla and move on to the next thing. Look for an FO just as soon as I can find a couple of hours of solid knitting space - I'm sure the rest will go quickly since I won't be frogging the remaining segment four times this time around (fingers crossed).
Posted by jess at June 12, 2006 7:26 PM | TrackBackmy experience is almost precisely the same, however my size had a decent place to end the cable pattern with regard to the straps.
i've not photographed it, it doesn't look good on, and it's languishing and awaiting frogging.
sigh...
Posted by: heatherfeather at June 12, 2006 8:43 PMbummer :( you could always send it back to the frog pond. i know it's a lot of work gone down the tubes, but at least you could resurrect the yarn.

anyway, while i'm here, i'll say that won't a lot of the strap be underneath your arm (in other words, not too noticeable?)
Posted by: Michelle at June 12, 2006 11:32 PMDarn that strap! Next project should be a tube top, no straps in sight!
Ugh, that's a terrible feeling. Especially when you struggled with the pattern.
Posted by: colleen at June 13, 2006 7:04 AMUgh, that's so frustrating. Sorry, it sucks to work that hard on something and then finally get through it only to realize it's just not what you envisioned. Is there a new project on the horizon to cheer you up?
Posted by: Sarah at June 13, 2006 8:19 AMWhat a wretched feeling -- to have worked so hard and to still feel as if you are not getting the end result you desire. It seems that we should have a bit more control of that in at least our knitting.
Posted by: Gina at June 13, 2006 10:46 AMI'm sorry you don't like it. Maybe you're being overly critical of how it looks on you??
Posted by: Stephanie at June 13, 2006 1:13 PMI hope the rest of Calla goes better for the rest of this project!
Posted by: Dorothy B at June 13, 2006 1:44 PMVery very frustrating. What if instead of a knitted strap, you just cast-off and made cute ribbon straps?
Posted by: Delica at June 13, 2006 2:51 PMDid you check with Saun for any corrections on the pattern or ask her for guidance? http://saunshine.blogspot.com/
opps - nevermind
Posted by: Marsha at June 13, 2006 4:03 PMPooey on the pattern!
Posted by: Chris at June 13, 2006 10:49 PMI hope that it looks better than you fear - on that is, because it looks pretty great laid out on the table.
How frustrating to have to keep frogging. Good for you for persisting!
What a challenge.
Hmm. Frustrating, for sure. The color is gorgeous, though - maybe just a plain i-cord or other strap is in order?
