Circle of Friends Blanket, Strip 2

catty, yarn lover
Catty's review of Knitpicks Shine Sport (as mattress):
4 paws out of 4 (wait, can she give 4 paws? Okay, 3 paws out of 3)

circle of friends blanket, two strips

Wow, is my gauge all over the place with this! it must be in part because the needle is on the large side for this particular yarn (I'm using US 5). Maybe I should have used a 4. It's also because I'm doing like 1 square every 2 days. Ugh. Cross your fingers for effective blocking!

Thank you for Catty's review on the yarn. I think blocking will be the answer.

I dig the uneven colors. I like it when handmade things look handmade. Not on first glance, but after you've spent some time with it and you notice little things like uneven blocks. Makes it special.

That's not bad at all, and I bet blocking will take care of it. Take a look at this and you'll feel better:

I think I a) couldn't count rows properly and b) accidentally did single or double crochet instead of half-double.

I love looking at pictures of Catty - and knitting too! Don't worry, I think blocking will made a difference.

Hard to type with my fingers crossed, but I'll cross 'em right back up as soon as I'm done. I think good blocking will help a lot.

What is it about cats and yarn? Catty looks like she is having great dreams.

Okay, that picture of Catty is the cutest ever. It would make a great yarn ad!

Have faith - a little bit o' blocking will do the trick. And oh my - Catty is just the sweetest! She looks soooooooooblissful there.

Aw, Catty is just adorable. I say go with the blocking - garter stitch is stretchy. You'll be fine.

Catty love makes it all right. Love see Catty photos.

3 paws out of 3 paws? More like 10 tons of cuteness out of 10 tons of cuteness.

Now that's cozy yarn!

I've managed to block out a lot of inconsistencies.

I almost fell asleep myself when I saw that pic of your kitty - what a cutie she is, and how very comfy this seems! Don't worry about your gauge, you'll see, blocking will do the trick as always! Love the colors by the way!

Awwwww....

(By the by, I would love to knit an extra brain for you, if only I had the time. Maybe that should be my next sculptural knitting challenge, after the snail that I need to finish.)

I have heard of people getting different gauges with the knitpicks shine when they use different colors. I have no idea why, but I have heard that. Blocking will help though and the colors look great!

I am just finishing up this same blanket. I used Debbie Bliss Wool/Cotton and I found that certain colors knit up a lot differently. I ripped out and reknit a lot of it, but it wasn't my gauge; different colors seem to just have slight differences. I have one strip left to attach and with careful finishing, it seems to be all falling into place pretty nicely. Looking at your two strips, you should have no problem.
