So you thought there would be no crafting content ever ever again? You were wrong!

Ha! Hahahahahaha!

Okay. So I tried to trick you. There's really no knitting content here, just two nice photos of my WIP basket. Please don't hate me! Here's another one:

Other matters: thank you for the advice re: the paint. We're not sure what we'll do, except talk to the landlord in a more serious way about it (not threatening, just more than "Hey you should come upstairs and look at the paint sometime.") He really isn't a bad guy - he's just very old and set in his ways, and difficult to communicate with for a number of reasons. Plus he's having some serious health trouble right now. But we'll see. As to the lead, frankly I'm not that concerned, though I'm usually super paranoid about this stuff. But these are chunks - not dust - at this point, and we don't have kids anyway and don't plan on it for some time. We don't even know it's lead, so I'm not going to freak until and unless we have it tested.

More exciting stuff? One: I took my last exam this morning... hurrah! I still have to turn in a final draft of a paper, due Wednesday, but frankly I'm not too stressed about it. Two: check my new kicks for the law school prom!

They were a splurge, but I adore them. I figure they will add a li'l pizzazz to my navy dress and match me up some height-wise with my lanky date. But they are hiiiiigh heels - I'll definitely be needing to study this carefully! Now if only I could knit myself a long-sleeved shrug between now and then to top off the outfit... [eyes WIP pile, stash, and calendar plottingly]

UPDATE: Oh hey, I forgot to add... another celebrity sighting, at least to you guys! Chris and I grabbed lunch at the Waverly on 6th Ave this afternoon and who was dining in a booth across from us but Ms. Interweave Knits, with some nice looking elderly folks who may have been her grandparents.

Your knitting is *so* much more organized than mine! Love the shoes! I used to love going to Barrister's Ball when my husband was in law school! Of course, what girl doesn't like a reason to dress up ; )!

Fab shoes! God bless Zappos.

Wow, studying to wear those shoes right might be as hard as law school finals! Congrats on finishing!

Dang, your WIP basket sure is pretty.

1. Those are fabulous shoes. Fabulous. I'm contemplating them myself ;). 2. Ms. Intereweave Knits, I understand, is Pam Allen's daughter. 3. I swear, although cannot say for sure, that I've seen the gorgeous Interweave Knits African-American model on the train here in Boston, more than once (http://iwpshopinfo.interweave.com/Knits/2006newsletters/2006images/1caftanpullover.jpg). I was knitting, and we were exchanging looks, so I think it was her, maybe!

oh my gosh, you saw the Giselle of the knitting world?! Wow.

Congrats! and have a ball at the ball.

Oh, the walls. We live in an old house in Chicago and we have the same issue. In my experience (first in our condo and now in our house), fixing the problem requires scraping, sanding and skim-coating. Not for the weak-of-heart or the do-it-yourself-impaired. Our upstairs bathroom looks like it is made of alligator skin. Nonetheless, I refuse to spend one cent to fix it because the whole thing is in for a re-do soon, so what's a little peeling paint (and a sink that doesn't always work, and a crappy reproduction claw-foot fiberglass tub that moves when you step into it) in the grand scheme of things.

Good to read Catty is doing well. Pitch and Papel send their best.

Wow! Ms Interweave Knits!! My housemate has a massive crush on her. I have to fight him for first look at my IK magazines when they arrive!

Posted by: Meg at May 9, 2006 1:15 AM

No way!! That girl is such a celebrity to me! She really is my favorite Interweave model. Did you say anything?

Congratulations on finishing your exams! What a relief that must be!

From another law student...on into the breach!!! I've got 2 exams left and I can hardly WAIT for them to be over! Best of luck!

Posted by: Anna at May 9, 2006 8:53 AM

shut UP! you saw the interweave girl!?!??! i've often entertained elaborate daydreams in which i see her in the streets of new york, we lock eyes and then live happily ever after, etc. knowing she's actually here is too good!!

haha, thats so awesome!

fabulous kicks! and that's a great price. when you said you splurged, i thought at least $200 :) congrats on finishing your exams! i know how stressful that can be. i'm sorry i missed you at the point two weeks ago :( hopefully i'll see you again soon!

Those shoes are seriously great. They remind me of Kidsilk Haze in Jelly, which I've learned is their #1 worldwide seller.

And regarding Ms. Interweave--was she wearing any knits??

Posted by: Cirilia at May 9, 2006 10:50 AM

I love, love, love those shoes!!!

Posted by: Dorothy B at May 9, 2006 12:16 PM

Oh my...those SHOES!!

Posted by: Gina at May 9, 2006 12:33 PM

Those shoes are divine. They'll look fantastic with a navy dress!

I thought that Ms. IK was a mythical creature. :)

You always sit near such interesting people when you eat out! heh I'd like a reason to wear shoes like that. Not that I'd wear them (oh my feet would never forgive me) but I'd like a reason. :)

I just started reading your blog a little while ago, but those shoes brought me out of lurker-dom! They are hot! Being done exams feels great, eh? Lucky for me, the Canadian law school semester ends in April, so I started on summer a week ago. You've one-upped me though - I have one more semester to go. Congratulations!

Beautiful shoes, and such well-organised WIPs! How do you ever manage to keep it to one container, as opposed to several bags strewn around the house (guilty blush)?

Posted by: The Skirt at May 9, 2006 6:03 PM

Those are fabulous shoes! I have also been eyeing my stash and thinking about making a wrap or shrug for a wedding that I'm in a few days from now. I've got plenty of time, but I also need to get more done on the wedding gift . . . oh well.

I think this settles it, IK must do a profile on their models! I feel like some of them, particularly MIss IK, are like friends of mine--or maybe the cool older kids at school I would never work up the nerve to speak to. I described this one to a friend of mine as the Linda Evangelista of the knitting world. But maybe Giselle is more up-to-date.
