Quick question for anyone who's reading today:
I started Calla today. I'm making the XS size, which calls for a CO of 86 stitches. The ribbing is done, so far, so good. But I can only make the first pattern row (second paragraph under "Front / Back") add up to 82 stitches, both in knitting it and trying to add up the numbers in the pattern. Am I screwing something up, or might there be a typo in the pattern? Is anyone out there good at spotting this stuff?
I e-mailed Saun, but hardly expect her to e-mail right back on a Saturday morning. It doesn't seem like anyone else in blogland is working on Calla just yet, so I thought I'd put this pickle out there for you.
Saun to the rescue:
Hi Jessica,
I apologize for the error. You should cast on 86sts for the XS but the line should read (correction in red):
Next RS row: k10[12,12,12,12,12,12], p2tog, yo, k3[3,3,3,5,5,7] , work chart 1, k2[2,4,6,8,10,12], work chart 2, k2[2,4,6,8,10,12], work chart 1, k3[3,3,3,5,5,7] , yo, p2tog, k10[12,12,12,12,12,12]. On next and all WS rows, work stitches as they lay, purling yarn-overs. (This means that if the stitch was knit on the RS, then you will purl on WS. If purl on RS, then knit on WS.)
Please let me know if you have any other problems or questions.
-Saun.

Posted by: Vicki in MIchigan at April 22, 2006 11:00 AMJust adding it up I got 82 stitches, too. The next size up seems correct, though :/ Sucks getting stalled this early in a pattern!
Posted by: Jenna at April 22, 2006 11:17 AMTry looking in the craftster knitalong post's some people have finished the front already.
Posted by: Wanett at April 22, 2006 11:21 AMWell, I would probably just knit 12 at the beginning and the end, that way your charts would line up. You could also just decrease 1 at each side the first 2 rows and that would get you back on track too.
