It's official: I will be the last person on earth to complete a pair of Jaywalkers!

The Jaywalkers that began with my one experiment with self-striping Kool-Aid dyed yarn have been resurrected. They have even reassumed a place on the sidebar.

Unfortunately, other (larger) projects are on hold because my subway ride is literally the only knitting time I'm going to have for the next few weeks. But at least these cheery little socks can come to the rescue!
Posted by jess at March 24, 2006 9:00 AM | TrackBackMmmmmmmmmmm: don't bet on the fact that you are the only person left knitting Jaywalkers--I am currently working on them, too! So that would make us founding members of the "Last of the Jaywalkers Club"-----xoxoo

Posted by: missyjoon at March 24, 2006 9:15 AMThey look great! And..... my girl Bev has you beat - http://wbnm.typepad.com/pomogo/
lol
Posted by: Scout at March 24, 2006 9:31 AMthose colors are so cute and cheery. a great project for spring I say!
Posted by: yahaira at March 24, 2006 9:38 AMNah, I don't think you are even close to the last. I have one completed and one left to do and no plans to even start it any time soon! SSS anyone?
They are cheery - and fabulous striping. Happy spring Jaywalking!
Posted by: Chris at March 24, 2006 10:08 AMI love those colors, very spring-like.
I am going to do a pair of jaywalkers for my sockapaloooza pal so fear not, you will not be the last! I have yet to make a pair :)
Posted by: pixie at March 24, 2006 10:13 AMDon't fret - my Jaywalkers took longer than average, too. They are a really great subway project, though, since the pattern is so easy to memorize.
Posted by: Jenna at March 24, 2006 10:21 AMI'm thinking about casting on at some point before I have to switch to support hose... Great color. BTW, I'm completely addicted to Wardrobe Remix. I think Lily of the Valley is my favorite.
Posted by: Gina at March 24, 2006 10:21 AMYou may be the last person on earth to complete them only because the other six and a half billion of us won't ever start....
Although I have plans to start a pair someday, so you won't be the last after all!
Love the colors - it was a highly successful dye experiment.
I have also been thinking of starting a pair of Jaywalkers. I even have some striping yarn. Mine is not so cheery, however. Those socks just cry SPRING! So very fun.
Posted by: holly at March 24, 2006 10:47 AMThe stripes look fantastic! Great colors.
Posted by: Jen at March 24, 2006 11:10 AMYou won't be the last, I've yet to start a pair. I will, someday.
Your dyed yarn is working wonderfully in that pattern!
Posted by: Natalie at March 24, 2006 11:39 AMThose colors are really great! Perfect the vivacious jaywalker pattern. Cute, cute sock..
Posted by: Julia at March 24, 2006 11:56 AMNo, that would be me, because I'm not a sock knitter.
Posted by: colleen at March 24, 2006 1:04 PMI made one Jaywalker ages ago and have the second about 1/8th done with no time to finish it! We should start a knitting support club. I do adore the colors you are using, though!
Posted by: Sara at March 24, 2006 1:08 PMDefinitely not the last one! I think I am! I do have some lovely cherry tree hill glitz for these. Someday!
Posted by: Lori at March 24, 2006 1:11 PMHave I posted a comment on your blog before? I don't know! If not, hi!
I have some stripey yarn destined for Jaywalkers, but I am lagging behind you. So no worries. I like your colors, though. As everyone else, said, very springy!
Posted by: Katherine at March 24, 2006 1:21 PMNope - I'll be the last. I haven't even started one yet. I do like the colors - such a happy sock.
Posted by: Stephanie at March 24, 2006 1:25 PMyou are one step ahead of me... you actually have the jaywalkers on the needles!
Posted by: amanda at March 24, 2006 1:36 PMi had forgotten how pretty that yarn was. Lookin' real good there, Jess. Can't wait to see it all knitted up.
Posted by: Sandra at March 24, 2006 3:09 PMNo, I'm working on my first pair of socks - Jaywalkers!
Posted by: Lisa Gossett at March 24, 2006 4:45 PMHey, but your jaywalker socks are a FAB FAB color!!! I just love that bright contrast!!!
Cannot wait to see the outcome!
Fun color combo! I'm amazed by the vibrant colors that can be achieved by Kool-Aid... you've inspired me to try this for myself sometime. (As if I need *another* hobby!)
Posted by: Yuki at March 24, 2006 11:24 PMI am also working on my first pair of Jaywalkers right now ;) They would have been finished earlier if they hadn't turned out so very tight that I lost my motivation there for a while. What size needles do you use? They look extremely thin to me.
Posted by: Rebecka at March 25, 2006 2:59 AMNope, you have me beat! And I agree with everyone - the colors are fabulous! Ah, law school exam time, huh? I've been there, yuk.
Posted by: megan at March 25, 2006 8:23 AMhuh...I'm apparently not alone in planning on knitting Jaywalkers 'someday'.
The yarn is gorgeous, and working up really well - I'm jealous.
Posted by: aliastriona at March 25, 2006 5:22 PMYet another soul who has yet to complete a pair of Jaywalkers here...nice colors on yours, though.
Posted by: bernie at March 25, 2006 9:10 PMThat is simply wonderful! I love the way the stripes behaved.
Posted by: Barb at March 26, 2006 12:27 PMnah, you're not the last person, I haven't even started mine yet.
Posted by: pretendingsanity at March 26, 2006 6:53 PMNever done Jaywalkers, would love to try one day though. That yarn is fabulous!!
Posted by: schrodinger at March 27, 2006 12:56 AMThe socks look fabulous!!
(And no, you're not the last person in the world to knit them, I've not made a pair yet. I keep getting distracted with other things.)
Posted by: Caren at March 27, 2006 9:43 AMWell I'm impressed! That kool-aid job looks great! The colors came out beautiful... and your sock is looking lovely! =)
Posted by: Rachel at March 27, 2006 10:40 PMYou seem to have hit a nerve! I haven't even started the jaywalkers. What might be more likely for me is a toe up baby version for my neice. I have some v beautiful fyberspates yarn in pink/orange/purple type colours.
I also happen to have 200grams of the stuff. That's enough for four adult socks or approximately 672 baby socks.
Posted by: Abi at March 28, 2006 4:02 AMI have not even started mine. I am starting to feel the pressure though..........
Posted by: HPNY knits at March 28, 2006 6:52 PMScout's not kidding. I'm just starting the toe decreases on the FIRST sock, and I've been at it since late January. Well, I made a few other things in between, and I did switch knitting methods. But yeah, I'm slow.
