(with regards to Pavement)
So I can't believe I forgot to blog about my big makeover day! Well, mostly just a haircut. A friend I met through Dena is the beauty editor at First For Women, a magazine along the lines of Woman's Day. She needed a brunette volunteer to get a cut similar to Jessica Alba or Hilary Swank, and I just happened to rapidly respond to the e-mail she sent out. Said haircut was done by Claude at Pierre Michel, a fancy salon I could never afford in real life (their website reveals that claude also does Roger Clemens. Ew. But also some more stylish famous people too!). Then it was back to a studio for some fabulous maquillage and a photo shoot for the magazine. Very exciting! I do have a hard time smiling with my teeth so much, though. I'd be screwed in Miss America. They took off a lot of length - I don't have a before shot but you can see it here in the Lady E photos. Claude seemed to think my long hair made me look short... me, short? What was he thinking? Anyhoo, here's the new 'do, straightened (though photographed after a long day) and air dried (except for the bangs).
And here's where I put on my best face to show you the bangs. Ready?

Don't ever accuse me of having any dignity, just don't.
Oh, and look what I found via Sandra of I May Be Knitting a Ranch House, my favorite Hipster of the Internets (whom we can also thank for my new addiction to Threadless tees).
UPDATE: Dood, it totally erased my recently played tracks!
Last.fm lets you track what you listen to on your iTunes for all the world to see, then builds your own personal radio station based on your tastes, though I haven't yet figured that one out yet. Here's my site... don't be fooled by all the emo-type music on there... I've been relying heavily on mp3 blogs to repopulate my music collection after the Music Exodus of 2006 and have yet to rip my WHAM! CDs onto the 'puter.
Posted by jess at March 20, 2006 8:06 AM | TrackBackYou are so adorable. How is life with bangs?
Posted by: Lauren at March 20, 2006 11:38 AMThat last picture is adorable, indeed.
Posted by: naomi at March 20, 2006 11:54 AMCute! That so cool that you got a makeover! Do you think you'd do the straight look often? Was it a lot of work?
Posted by: Angela at March 20, 2006 12:13 PMOooooh! I love the haircut!
Posted by: Scout at March 20, 2006 12:16 PMGreat 'do! Looks fab! And I'm totally going to go play around with that last.fm site. I feel like I could get addicted.
Posted by: Lisa at March 20, 2006 12:48 PMNice haircut! You leave Alba and Swank far behind.
Cool, you've fallen for Last.fm. Me too. You're very much welcome to join The Knitting Circle group. Please do! It would be so cool to have a proper knitters music chart. We're currently only 17 members, but growing strong. Belle and Sebastian were number one last week as eight knitters listened to them.
Posted by: Emma at March 20, 2006 12:49 PMWhat a great haircut! It's incredibly flattering.
But bangs still scare me, even with your cute'n'silly bangorama picture.

Posted by: Cathy at March 20, 2006 1:23 PMCute hair - and for free! Lucky.
(Thanks for the Pavement lyric. I'll be humming that all day!)
I'm green with envy that I had to pay for a crappy cut when there are free changes to get a beautiful haircut roaming the cyber streets of NYC.

Posted by: allena at March 20, 2006 3:45 PMsuper cute haircut! you are totally the opposite of what the dad in legally blonde describes as a typical law student- "honey, law school is for people who are ugly and boring and serious."
Posted by: Kym at March 20, 2006 10:38 PMThe new do is you. I just felt like rhyming
Posted by: Neal at March 21, 2006 4:12 AMA fabulous spring do! You wear bangs so well! I've tried them many a times hoping for that cute look, but they just don't work for me!
