Kool-Aid Mini Skeins

kool-aid closeup

Yesterday being the day after exams and, officially, the Day When I Can Do Whatever I Want Whenever I Want to Do It, there was a little Kool-Aid dying Chez Fig and Plum. No full skeins, just some color experiments that resulted in some teensy mini-skeins. The main goal was to experiment in getting richer, more muted colors. I think it was successful, though the skeins almost absorbed more dye than I would have liked, simply because the solutions were so saturated. I'm particularly pleased with the avocado / limey green in the middle and the brickish red.

i'm amazed that you've been able to get such deep colors. that's a lot of koolaid is my guess. great work!

They are beautiful - Thanks for the recipes. Question for ya - when you list the colors, was it 1 package of the ones listed in how much water? (the colors came out great - I'd love to see if I can recreate them) What yarn did you use to dye?

Beautiful colors! Mine usually come out blindingly bright....

that cheese looks great. Beer + cheese = yum!

Thank you for spelling pom pon like the fuzzy ball and not like the gun. Isn't it sad that I care about such things?

I really like the brown skein also. One day i will have time to play with kool-aid... Thanks for the recipes!

The green is way luscious. My very favorite color.

I really love your photography! By the way, that cheese looks a bit scary (reminded me of an Italian meant thing), but it sounds delicious. I'm a comlete sucker for cheese.

I love that avocado green too! This is something I have to try over Christmas/New Years.

Amazing colors -- I'm so drawn to the bright kool aid colors I always see, but yours are really something else entirely! Completely rich and beautiful (and I loved looking up the color combos on flickr). Excellent!

quite the ingenious dye job! who would have thunk you could achieve those colors with kool-aid? nice job.
