Mushroom Tart, Lookin' Sharp

As you know, pumpkin, bacon, and sage are an ingredient trio held in high esteem here at Fig and Plum. Now they're joined by another frequent player in our kitchen: mushroom, spinach, and goat's milk / sheep's milk cheese. A while back I recommended Warm Quinoa, Spinach, and Shitake Salad, and Sunday night's Mushroom Tart elevated these three to blog-feature status. Mostly because it was such a pretty thing, but also because it was damned tasty:

And in that vein, I must introduce you to the newest member of our family. Wusthof knives!!!

I got them "free" (ha!) with several years of accummulated American Express Membership Rewards points. And here they are "lookin' sharp!" (get it? lookin' sharp? waka waka waka!). They replace several years accummulated $5 knives from Target. Words can't express the joy, friends. No words.

Mmmmmm, mushrooms... I also envy you the knives. But the best part of this post was the "waka waka waka." I'm still in tears and having breathing troubles from the laughter.

That's so funny. We made that tart on Sunday night too. It was really great. The pumpkin-kale-pasta baked thing from the same magazine wasn't as good. Not enough umph.

I don't think I've ever left a comment for you before, but I've been reading and enjoying Fig & Plum for a while now. I couldn't resist leaving a note today because I had the best goat cheese, nay - the best cheese of any kind - on Thanksgiving. It's Cypress Grove Chevre's Humboldt Fog. You could eat this stuff with a spoon. Might be hard to find in your neck of the woods, but it's worth trying if you come across it. That looks MIGHTY tasty- out of curiosity, how does the taste of sheep's milk cheese differ from goat's milk? I love goat cheese, and I've never even noticed sheep's milk cheese at the store...

That tart looks tasty, and I don't even like mushrooms. Too bad for me. Awesome knives, too, and from credit card rewards no less. Every woman should have a good set of knives. :)

I love my Wusthof knives and the scissors are awesome. Mine were a surprise wedding gift from my best friend. She was so thankful that I decided not to have bridesmaids in my (small) wedding--and therefore she did not have to buy an ugly bridesmaid dress and the like---that she told me she wanted to buy me something really nice and fancy.
