Adirondacks 2005

We're back!

Highlights of the trip:

  • Stars, two meteors, and Mars too
  • Canoeing on Blue Mountain Lake
  • Old Forge Hardware - so big, it has the equivalent of an entire knitting store inside... not to mention the largest selection of cast iron pots & pans I've ever seen!
  • Apple Crisp at Big Moose Inn
  • Hiking up Blue Mountain for the second time
  • C.

And let's not forget the child in the cabin next to ours who toted what appeared to be an entire arsenal of BB guns with him on vacation. He had a handgun-type one and a rifle-type one. Pretty much his entire weekend consisted of going around and shooting objects on the ground at close range. His parents were trying (though not to the extent of not letting him have shockingly realistic pseudo weapons). For example:

Kid: Mooooooom, I'm out of bullets!!!!
Mom: You mean you're out of bb's?
Kid: Yeah, bbs, right.

Looks lovely. I can't wait for my own vacation. BTW, I understand your female bodily issues...hate doctors sometimes.

It's in the autumn that I miss New England the most. California is nice and all, but it will never be truly home. Those red leaves!!!

Glad you had a good time, but glad you're back. ;)

Oooh, you were so close to our Adk place! Waaay over there, on the other side of that High Peaks range, is our Shack-au-Lac. Did you love the ADK museum? Is it not awesome? I have never been to the Old Forge Hardware but there was a great article about it in the Adk. Life magazine recently. Sounds terriffff.......
