Simply Marilyn appears to be at least a little smarter than me. She's certainly doing better on this test. Anyway, obviously I started her. I cast on 8 stitches less than the S size in the pattern.
It has been pointed out to me by Sarah** that Simply Marilyn and the sweater measured below are very similar. I was quick to point out all the huge differences in response, but really she's right, of course. I guess the biggest difference will be that the green one was made by J.Crew, whereas Marilyn will not be.
*no worries, law folks - that's not the exam, just some reading materials!
** aka, She of One Hundred Equally Lovely Boatneck Tops
Lovely color, that blue. The last two sweaters you have mentioned are on my list to make as well. I've have promised myself though, that I will finish Charity (from Rowan's Ribbon Twist collection) before I start another sweater. Also, I can't decide on a color for Simply Marilyn. Also, I think by husband, darling though he may be, would absolutely kill me if I bought more yarn right now.
By the way, where to the project percentage complete bars on the left side of your page come from? I have seen them on a number of blogs but Google is failing me...
Posted by: julia at May 9, 2005 10:37 AMOh that color is beautiful! It looks like you're moving along swimmingly--I knit Marilyn a few months ago, and the one thing I wish I had done differently, was to knit the collar in the round rather than seaming it. I think I need to knit myself a cotton one...
(How funny, I couldn't post my blog link because it wouldn't pass your comment sensors!)
Posted by: Heidi at May 9, 2005 11:57 AMThis one's on my list too! Guess we have similar taste in knitting :-)
Posted by: Megan at May 9, 2005 12:21 PMGood luck with your final exam!
PS - I will have to fix that "Listening" bit for you by sending you a new mix. I'm nearly done with the "thrifty" tunes, btw... and I know you're probably dying to hear Disco Rick's "Flea Market" ditty again. :)
Posted by: joyolivia at May 10, 2005 9:31 PMQuick question for curiousity's sake: Will you also size down Teva's Lace Leaf Pullover? If I remember correctly the finished bust measurements on the smallest size will be 38"...being small myself, I think that a really cute sweater like that ought to not be so baggy that I couldn't wear it out in public (come fall).
Posted by: Darsana at May 12, 2005 11:53 AMI'm going to have law school finals nightmares now but thought I'd chime in about my Simply Marilyn. I have a 32.5 inch bust and am really short to boot so I had to size it down. I ended up just using the pattern's increments to downsize it too. I think I cast on 8 fewer as well. Mine came out to be 35 inches when completed, if I remember correctly. I did knit the collar on circs. It was a good choice! Here's the link from my blog:

I love this sweater! I want to make another one next winter.
I wish I had learned to knit when I was in law school. Or maybe not, knowing me, I would have taken out extra loans to buy yarn. :)
