I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW. I'm on a yarn diet. But like every dieter, I can go off the wagon on a special occasion, right? The evil wonderful evil wonderful people at Mystical Creation Yarns have sent me on a bender.
Here's what's going on:
(1) From 4/28 - 5/5, they are giving 20% off all animal fiber yarns. That means silk, merino, mohair, whatever.
(2) They have ELIMINATED THEIR MINIMUM ORDER.
(3) They make a beautiful 50/50 silk & merino blend that is comparable to Lorna's Laces Lion & Lamb, and which you can get in any of their colorways. On sale it's only $32 for 500 yards (8 oz.). This is about 150 yards less than the full Clapotis, but what does a diminuitive girl like me need with a huge scarf like that?
SO. Here's where you come in. Which color do you think I ought to order for Clapotis? Keep in mind I'm fair-ish with brown hair and eyes, and that I would like to be able to wear this in winter and cool summer days.
Here are your choices (all can be ordered in Silk/Merino):
Maple Leaf
Mountain Stream
Heat Wave
Humming Bird
Cranberries
Mimosa
oh you EVIL person. it's not enough that i drool at mystical creations at least once a week, but now i HAVE to buy some of their yarn. just wehn i was in the "use up what i've got" mode. personally, i love the hummingbird, but i voted for mimosa because i think it would look very nice with your coloring.
Posted by: holly at April 27, 2005 6:05 PMI was really torn between Maple Leaf and Cranberries. I see why you're having a hard time deciding. They're all gorgeous.
Posted by: Lauren at April 27, 2005 6:30 PMDefinetly have to go with the hummingbird colour. it is very sophisticated adn would suit the style of claptois.
diets are a waste of time anyway, you only live once so make the best of it!
Tough choice! I'd say either 'heat wave' and 'hummingbird'... though all of the colors you picked are beautiful. I myself might be forced to buy 'england' for a clapotis or a similar project. :)
Posted by: Samantha at April 28, 2005 9:51 AMi would count your best friends, female relatives, and favorite bloggers - then buy enough yarn in enough colors to knit a clapotis for ALL of them. such gorgeous yarn.
i really want to know how you make clapotis tinier - i love mine, but it is too large to wear as a scarfy thing.
Posted by: semaphoria at April 28, 2005 12:52 PMi would count up your female friends, relatives and favorite bloggers and make one for each. that way you can use ALL of those lucious colourways.
let us know how you make clapotis smaller please. mine is HUGE - and i would like a dainty smaller one for neck-warming.
Posted by: semaphoria at April 28, 2005 12:54 PMI picked the hummingbird - just beautiful. Now I think I'll have to get it for myself darnit!
Did you see the sport silk merino? It looks to be almost the same stuff and you can get 625 yards (ALMOST 650 yds) of it for a little more cash than the yarn you're looking at.
I know you want a smaller one but for the (almost) full size that seems like a pretty good way to go if needed.
Thanks for the heads up!
