Voila, KnitPicks

Thank you sooooo much for feeding the stash monster, KnitPicks. I am comforted by knowing that only 1/5 of this yarn belongs to me.

Hey, did you see Spun Magazine has launched?

;)

yup, it's to be dyed. there's a plan in the works for some friends and me to take the kool-aid plunge (sorry nestea!). we were going to buy lion brand fisherman's wool, but the knitpicks natural wool was cheaper and is probably of better quality.

i'm trying the andean silk and the elegance as more experimental ventures. elegance is darker than i thought it would be, but i'll try it nonetheless.

Ooohh.. I can't wait to see the beautiful yarn you create with your kool-aid experiment!

On another note.. thank you sooo much for all the patience and help with my hourglass sweater! I finally attached my sleeve and am knitting quickly away at the next. You are a lifesaver!

Dont you just love knitpicks?!?! There stuff is cute and yet soo very cheap! I love it! Can't wait to see the pics from your wool dying adventure.

Wow, it's cheaper than Lion Brand?! Ooh, I must give Knitpicks a try now. Thanks!

Can't wait to see the final results of the Electric Acid Kool-Aid Test (sans the electricity and acid, hopefully)!

Damn, I meant "the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test". Got the word order wrong. And here I was, thinking I was being clever.

:/ Oh, well.

wow, thanks lauren and MB!

i'll certainly post results - hopefully tom wolfe won't need to get involved ;)

Is that Wool of the Andes on the right? Can you tell me how it feels? I have been thinking about buying some to make a poncho for my grandmother, but she needs something soft. Would you wear WotA near your neck?

Posted by: Esther at February 17, 2005 9:00 AM

I'd say it's sort of soft, but if I were knitting something for an older person whose skin may be more sensitive, I'd go with andean silk, andean treasure, or merino style.

wool of the andes is soft for such an inexpensive yarn, and for $1.79 a ball it's great, but it's not the softest thing out there.

check out the knitter's review article for reviews of each:
