The Most Frivolous Decision in the World

So that I may stop bugging Chris and my co-workers (and you for that matter) with my fretting over what iPod to buy now that the new 4th Generation has been released and the 3rd generation has dropped in price as well, I post here for your input. I promise this will be the last iPod-centric post for a while...

Option 1: 4th Generation 20GB iPod - $269

+ 12 hour battery life - I despise recharging gadgets
+ Plenty of storage (for me)
+ USB cable included
+ slightly thinner than 3rd Gen.
- no remote, dock, or case included
- big and clunky compared to iPod mini
- edit: seen in person the 4G is downright ugly next to the 3G. as a poster at iPodlounge said, it's like the 1967 Mustang v. the 1994 Mustang.

Option 2: 3rd Generation 20GB iPod - $269

+ includes remote, dock, and case
+ design is way sexier than the 4th Gen
+ plenty of storage
- 8 hour battery life
- USB cable sold separately
- big and clunky compared to iPod mini, slightly thicker than 4th gen

Option 3: iPod mini - $229

+ small and light, and will fit in a wee purse or pocket (a priority for a law student with no desk or office and already loaded with a backpack full of casebooks)
+ durable aluminum body
+ USB cable included
+ good for yoga / running
- 8 hour battery life
- will fill fast - I already have 1 GB worth of mp3s on my hard drive without ripping any CDs (but probably own >100 CDs).
- kind of "cutesy" for my taste

Please help direct my materialist-binge dollars toward the appropriate channel.

option 1 all the way. battery life is huge, and so is disk space. i filled my 1st gen 10GB really quickly, and resented it for the next several months, as i had to axe something to load new music. it always pissed me off. when i got a 40GB a few years later, a weight had been lifted.

the 'bulk' of the regular ipod puts at the size of a deck of cards... it's tiny. not as tiny as the mini - but still pretty darn small and sleek.

hey pc user, you're going to have to buy a cord for any of them so bump up your price by $20... and you'll have a more accurate idea of the price. I'm a lazy recharger too, so I love my dock. Sounds like Option 2 is not too shabby for the money. Plus, buying Option 2 means then I wouldn't have to resent you for having a better iPod than me.
