For you Chicagoans, a restaurant suggestion: C. and I ate at Red Rooster, a nook of a restaurant offering traditional French basics in Lincoln Park, for dinner tonight and it was deee-lish. It's been a long time since I've been able to afford French anything, especially in NYC where all the French restaurants are $$$$$ in Zagats. Red Rooster offers a prix fixe, including three courses and a bottle of wine at $48/couple, Sunday through Wednesday nights - un bon marche! Don't be afraid to ask about the prix fixe if they don't hand you the menu right off the bat - it's not widely advertised at the restaurant but it does exist - our little secret.
And while you're there, just try to get "Little Red Rooster" by the late great Luther Allison out of your head.
