Indiana Parole Board Recommends Clemency in the Williams Case!

The Indiana Parole Board voted 5-0 to recommend Governor Kernan grant clemency to Darnell Williams. It's incredible - the first time the IPB has recommended clemency since the death penalty was reinstated - the closest they've come is 1 for and 4 against. This process has been harrowing for us students. I can't even imagine what it's been like for Juliet, Darnell's attorney, who has represented him for 12 years. Read more about the recommendation in the Chicago Tribune (requires registration). Now we wait for the governor's decision. He has until July 8...

Congrats to you and the hard working folks at the center (and everyone else who put in some hard work)... I'm glad Kernan came around on the case.
