Humble Masterpieces at the MoMA

Ah, my glorious toothbrush in all its vivid splendor

What do Bayer aspirin, Chupa Chups, Durabeam Flashlights, Band-Aid Advanced Healing Blister gel, Bubble Wrap, bamboo chopsticks, Toblerones, air mail envelopes, tennis balls, and scotch tape have in common? They're all part of MoMA's latest exhibit Humble Masterpieces (April 8 - September 27). Reading an article about this exhibit posted to Slate made me ask myself which everyday object I find to be modest yet deserving my attention and appreciation.

Without much pondering, I immediately thought of my trusty Oral B toothbrush. If you were curating this exhibit, what everyday items would you make sure were included?

My Zojirushi water boiler (not sure what the official name is--maybe hot pot?)--it quickly boils water and keeps it at temp so that I can have tea whenever I want it.

Ah, what a good one! I'm surprised there isn't a kettle in the MoMA exhibit. When haunting flea markets, I always notice that the vintage kettles have especially nice shapes.

this is so cool, eh? too bad we're leaving at just the wrong time.

here are my contributions:
the post-it tab dispenser.
also, galvanized metal paint buckets, the kind our geraniums are growing in.
and my lucky chinese cat bank.

Ah, your ideas Jess inspired me to come up with another -- the old school, whistle Pez dispensers.
