Handy Li'l Bags

It's mid-summer and to stave off that feeling of 'unproductiveness' that comes with not having a job, I decided to teach myself to use my sewing machine.  Something small, useful, and devoid of sizing concerns was in order, and I found a basic pattern at Sew Wrong for making a wee bag - perfect for makeup and other odds and ends, even as a double for a wallet.

The zipper was tricky, but About.com has a great project that includes clear zipper instructions.  After about four tries, I found a little success with the zippers.  None looks perfect, but hey, what's handmade for if not a little imperfection?

Supplies

A bit of heavy-ish fabric for the bag
A lighter fabric for the lining
7" zipper
Embroidery floss and hoop (if desired)

Notes

I embroidered a little design on the outer fabric of one of the bags ahead of time.  I also fiddled a bit with the size of the bags - they don't conform to the size in the pattern.

The zippers, I'm afraid, are still a little funky.  If you have any specific advice on how to rectify this little trouble, please let me know!
